ABIAKUM MACBETH The Market Place: The Law of Supply – Philippians 4:19

Lesson aim and Introduction: To encourage brethren to ask from the Lord all that they need by faith

The Market Place could simply be referred to as a place where people go to buy or sell. One thing that is very important in the Market Place is the Law of Supply and Demand which is largely determined by the Value of Exchange (currency). In today’s study, we will examine how this law could be applied toour spiritual Supplies.

Some basic assumptions of Supply:
1.       Suppliers are always ready to supply their products to the market
2.       Suppliers are always willing to supply when demand is high
3.       Suppliers are reluctant to supply when demand is low
4.       Suppliers will cease to be in the market when there is no demand for their products

How do I know God can supply all our need?In our bible text, we are told that God shall supply all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. What this means is that God has in place all that we need and He has also conferred the power of His riches on Jesus to supply all that we need. –Gen 1:1, Matt. 28: 18, John 1:1-3, Eph.3:9, Col.1:16, Rev.4:11, Matt. 7:7, Gen. 22:8, Luke 11:9, James 1:5. Ps. 50:10, Matt. 17:27

Examples of our needs: Healing for the sick, Food for the hungry, Help for the helpless, strength for the weak, money for the poor, rest for those cumbered with loads of care, deliverance for the oppressed, freedom for captives, safety for the unsecured,

A careful examination at the above scripture, the word need is not plural but singular. What this means is that we need just one need met to meet all our needs. That Need is Jesus! ‘I asked God to give me everything so that I could enjoy my life, but God gave me life so that I could enjoy everything’. Jesus is that life – John 4:6

According to assumptions 2 of Supply and Demand, suppliers are always willing to supply when demand is high. Thus, for our need to be met we must make a demand for it by asking in prayers; and when we ask, we must believe that the supplier is capable of supplying all our need and we must be willing to pay a high premium for it – Faith (Trust on the Almighty).

Conclusion: God is always willing to supply all our need if only we can ask by faith –Heb. 11:6. So, whatsoever you need of the Lord, just ask and ask and ask until your joy is full. John 16:24. Making our demand should not be that difficult since we have a Father that can provide all.
